Is Royal Reels legal in Australia? Licence facts

Short answer: Royal Reels holds no Australian licence, and offering online casino games to people in Australia is illegal. ACMA found it breached the Interactive Gambling Act and has had it blocked since July 2023. Below are the records, not a verdict.

Short answer: what the records show

Is Royal Reels legit? People mean different things by that question, so we answer with official records instead of a verdict. This is what the sources showed when we checked on 16 Oct 2026.

  • No Australian licence. ACMA, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, found that Royal Reels breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA). In July 2023 it asked Australian internet providers to block the site.
  • The service is illegal to offer here. Online casinos are on ACMA’s list of banned online services. ACMA applies this to offshore providers too, which is why it blocks their websites.
  • The operator was formally warned. ACMA investigated from 8 May 2023 and, on 14 Jun 2023, gave a formal warning to Digibrite S.R.L., the company it names as the provider.
  • No matching licence found. The casino claims an overseas licence. We found no matching licence in the public registers we checked.

Every fact below carries a label: verified (an official record or our own direct check), claimed (the casino about itself), reported (review databases or players) or unclear (sources conflict). For the block itself, read why Australian internet providers block it.

Not to offer to people in Australia. ACMA describes the Interactive Gambling Act as the law that sets the rules for companies that offer or advertise gambling services. ACMA lists these banned online services (checked again on 18 Oct 2026):

  • online casinos
  • in-play sports betting
  • sports betting services that do not hold an Australian licence
  • betting on the outcome of a lottery.

Two sections of the Act do most of the work. Section 15 is headed “Prohibited interactive gambling services not to be provided to customers in Australia”. Online casinos, online pokies and other casino-style games fall under it. Section 15AA covers regulated services, such as sports betting, offered without an Australian licence.

Advertising is banned too. Part 7A of the Act, including s 61EA, bans publishing ads for these services in Australia. In 2022 ACMA formally warned the person behind an affiliate website and treated the site’s casino logos, direct links to casino sites and promotional text as advertising. That is one reason this site never links to Royal Reels or prints its addresses.

What is allowed. Sports betting services that hold an Australian licence are not on ACMA’s banned list. ACMA keeps a register of licensed interactive wagering services (181 entries when we looked on 16 Oct 2026) and advises people to avoid services that are not on it. Royal Reels holds no Australian licence.

Royal Reels licence: claims vs public registers

The casino makes two different licence claims, and neither matched a public register when we checked. Our result: no matching licence found in the public registers we checked.

What this means for you

You get none of the protections an Australian licence brings. ACMA warns that, with illegal services, “even if a service looks legitimate, it’s unlikely to have important customer protections”. It also says “Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money” (ACMA, July 2023).

In practice:

  • Complaints are harder. With no Australian licence, there is no Australian licensing body you can take an account dispute to (our reading of the facts above). You can still report the site to ACMA on 1300 850 115, report fees or fake sites to Scamwatch, and talk to your bank about card or transfer problems. See which body handles which problem.
  • Payouts depend on the casino’s own terms, which allow ID checks before any payout. If a payout is stuck, read what a pending withdrawal can mean.
  • Payments are set to get harder. From 1 Jan 2027, banks and payment providers must stop payments from Australian accounts to illegal gambling services as far as reasonably practicable. Details: the payment-blocking rules that start in 2027.
  • Other countries are a patchwork. The casino’s terms name no countries at all; see where Royal Reels accepts players.
  • Check any gambling service first. If it is not on ACMA’s register of licensed wagering services, ACMA’s advice is to avoid it.
  • Is Royal Reels legit?

We don’t give verdicts, only records. Royal Reels has no Australian licence, ACMA found it breached the Interactive Gambling Act and has had it blocked since July 2023, and we found no matching licence in the public registers we checked on 16 Oct 2026. Trustpilot shows an average of 1.8 out of 5 from 176 user reviews.

  • Is Royal Reels casino legit in Australia?

It is not licensed in Australia, and offering online casino games to people in Australia is illegal under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. That is why Australian internet providers block it at ACMA’s request, even though the casino’s own pages still target Australians.

  • Who owns Royal Reels?

The casino says Digibrite SRL owns and operates it. ACMA’s formal warning of 14 Jun 2023 names Digibrite S.R.L. of Nicosia, Cyprus, and a 2025 ACMA report records a second warning to Digibrite SRL over The Pokies. Review databases give other company names, which we could not confirm.

  • Does Royal Reels have a licence?

It claims one. The home page names the Curaçao Gaming Control Board and the terms name PAGCOR. We found no matching licence in the Curaçao, Anjouan or Kahnawake registers, and PAGCOR cancelled all internet gaming licences from 15 Dec 2024.

  • Is Royal Reels trustworthy?

That is your call; we report what the records show. On the record: no Australian licence, an ACMA block since July 2023, no matching licence in the registers we checked, and player reports of stalled withdrawals and document checks. ACMA warns that people who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.

  • Why does the casino name two different licences?

We don’t know. The home page names Curaçao, the terms name PAGCOR and the AML policy mentions an unnamed master licence holder. None of these matched a public register when we checked, and the casino shows no licence number we could look up.

  • Will anything change in 2027?

Yes. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 26 Aug 2026, and most of it starts on 1 Jan 2027. Banks, payment providers, internet providers, app stores and search engines then get duties to stop illegal gambling services using them. See what changes in 2027.

  • How can I check whether a gambling site is licensed in Australia?

Look it up on ACMA’s register of licensed interactive wagering services, and avoid services that are not on it, as ACMA advises. You can also report a site you think is illegal to ACMA on 1300 850 115.
